LP ON SJ....15-11-16.

In the beginning of their career, LP did Parasmani, almost copied music of SJ, AS THEY AGREED MANY TIMES…..However, in an interview Laxmikant opened up:  ”Pyareji and I used to play cricket together. There were 5 or 6 brothers in their company, all good musicians. So we formed an orchestra. joining the film industry, later.Pyareji used to play the violin and I wud play the mendolin. While on our way, we joined Shankar-Jaikishan playing the instruments in their orchestra…..On a question ‘who were your role models?’, he replied   un- hesitatingly : ”Shankar-Jaikishan”.We hv been highly impressed by their work. In fact, I was so influenced by Jaikishan, that I used to do everything, he did. You wouldn’t believe it  I even  try to dress, talk and walk like him. While singing, he used to shake his head a lot, and I imitated that too. IN THE BEGINNING, OUR MUSIC COMPOSITIONS HAD HINTS OF HIS STYLE……..This was the reason why he removed us from his orchestra.

This is an excerpt from a newspaper, having interview of LP, where they mentioned the above story of SJ’s influence on them…..I read many places about SJ, and their relations in film industry…..However, acceptance of Laxmikant about their removal by Jaikishan, did not come as surprize to me, since this was the only cutting of a newspaper that surprized me, as nowhere else I came thru Laxmikant’s approval of the above fact…..Long live SJ’S MUSIC…….Ye manzilen hain kaun si, na vo samajh sake na ham….

UCO & Overseas's banks latest position 17.8.2016.

Why Do People Still Have Deposits in Indian Overseas Bank and UCO Bank?
Tue, 16 Aug 2016
Of course, if the loans of a bank are not being repaid, it's chances of returning deposits are also low. At least, that is how things should work in theory. But that is not the case primarily because everyone knows that a government is not going to let a public sector bank go bust. (Actually, the government won't let even a private sector bank go bust, but that is a story we will leave for another day).

And this explains why people still have their money deposited with these banks. Take the case of Indian Overseas Bank. As on June 30, 2016, the total deposits with the bank stood at Rs 2.18 lakh crore, in comparison to Rs 2.32 lakh crore a year earlier. Now that is a fall of 5.85 per cent.

This drop is extremely marginal when one takes into account the fact that thebad loans of the bank have more than doubled during the same period. As on June 30, 2015, the bad loans of the bank had stood at 9.40 per cent of its total advances. What this clearly tells us is that the smart money has started to move out of the bank. But the bulk of the lot continue to hold on to their deposits in the bank.

How do things look for UCO Bank? I couldn't find the deposits of the bank as on June 30, 2016, and hence, have worked with March 31, 2016, numbers, which are good enough to make the point I am trying to make. As of March 31, 2016, the total deposits of UCO Bank were at Rs 2.07 lakh crore, down from Rs 2.14 lakh crore from a year earlier. This is a meagre fall of 3.4 per cent. During the same period, the bad loans of the bank have jumped from 6.76 per cent to 15.43 per cent.

While the investors in the stocks of these banks have realised the true situation that these banks are in, the same cannot be said about the depositors. The explanation for this is fairly straightforward. Most depositors do not keep track of the state of the bank they have deposited their money in, especially if it happens to be a public sector bank.
The de facto assumption is that money deposited in a public sector bank is safe, which it is. Nevertheless, if at all there is trouble, there might be transitional problems and during that period liquidity of these deposits might be an issue.

Also, for all the risk that depositors are taking on by investing in these banks, what is the extra return that they are earning? The interest on fixed deposits of UCO Bank for a period of one year or more vary between 7.25 per cent and 7.5 per cent. The interest rates on fixed deposits of Indian Overseas Bank for a similar period vary between 7 per cent and 7.25 per cent.

The State Bank of India, the largest public sector bank, offers interest rates between 7 per cent and 7.5 per cent, for fixed deposits of one year or more. Hence, the State Bank of India offers more or less the same interest rate as Indian Overseas Bank and UCO Bank, do.

At the same time, it is a much safer bank to have your deposits in given that its bad loans as on June 30, 2016, stood at 6.49 per cent of its total advances. They had stood at 4.29 per cent as on June 30, 2015.

So, the bad loans of State Bank of India are lower than that of both Indian Overseas Bank as well as UCO Bank. At the same time, they have gone up at a much slower pace. In case both Indian Overseas Bank and UCO Bank, the bad loans have more than doubled over the last one year. This is clearly not the case with State Bank of India.
Hence, even those depositors who like to hold their deposits in government owned banks, the State Bank of India, is a much safer bet. Also, it is the biggest government bank and the government has the most interest in keeping it going.

The only place human beings are known to be rational are in theoretical economics. In real life they clearly not. The above example clearly shows us that. The reasons of people holding on to deposits in Indian Overseas Bank and UCO Bank can be multiple

The first, is that they don't know that the banks are in a bad shape. The second, is that they do know that banks are in a bad shape, but they also know that government banks don't fail. The third, is that they have always had their deposits in these banks and are friendly with the people who run the branch they have their deposits in.

Nevertheless, none of these reasons is a rational one because the fixed deposits of these two banks do not pay a higher rate of return for the extra risk that the people are taking on.

That we are financially illiterate nation is a given. But even with this disclaimer I am sometimes amazed at how lackadaisical people are when it comes to their money.

Take the case of two public sector banks: a) Indian Overseas Bank b) UCO Bank. Recently, both the banks declared results for the three-month period ending June 30, 2016. As of June 30, the bad loans of Indian Overseas Bank amounted to 20.48 per cent. And that of UCO Bank were at 17.19 per cent.

This basically means that close to one-fifth of the loans given by these banks have not been repaid. The question is how do these banks or for that matter any bank, give loans? A bank raises deposits and then gives out those deposits as loans

Car Rally and Confusion.

  • Madhusudan Shroti participants belong to affluent families & it will be interesting to know that most of them have girl child working as domestic help................
  • Gopal Shroti
thnx Hiren Mahendrakumar Trivedi,Sanjay Kumar for liking.....Welcome, Madhusudan Shroti.......I do not know 'charity' has one definition only....Others say, Charity comes from within, Charity begins at home....Now as the society is increasing in values, we shd take charity liberally...as there are oldage homes, sr.citizen societies, which hitherto were unknown just 10- to 15 years back....Nowadays middle class too is becoming affluent, SO THEIR PARTICIPATION CANNOT BE DENIED, may be 20%.....Yes keeping girls as servants may evolve questions, for which I agree. But keeping the compulsions in view as narrated by our maid servants, sending their daughters for working in homes, I cannot stop them, since the money earned by the girls they r depositing in banks for their weddings....And my maid servant has her two daughters to be married next month by the money they earned within few years besides their desparate treatment of physical illnesses from time to time, by the money the girls earned....She has six children to support. Husband died in an accident. two r married now two and next she has to arrange for one more daughter, who too started working, where she has to look after a divorsee doctor's daughter and cook food (Rs2000 plus diet)...her only son,15,started working in a hotel.....I am not contradicting your views but there are different truths from poor to middle to upper classes. In circumstances, I find no room for sympathy,as the individuals have their own stories.

--There was a car rally for 'girl child' on last Sunday  i.e. 18th March'12,in Bhopal in which some 60 participants took part, including TV actress, Divanka Tripathi....The prize winners were given first prize of Rs.25000,2nd.Rs.15000 and 3rd Rs.10000.....The above is the outcome of small discussion on Facebook....how do u think?(pic DB).

Studies & Children---Help save them and their innocent sentiments.

It is exam fever all over....If there are children, they are more sensitive...so pl do not scold them....if they miss some question or even they are average....Parents expect too much from their children looking at the competitive world.....If the child is sincere, he does his best....pl keep cool while handling their innocent faces..He is not cheating you....but You are expecting more than expected.
  • Madhusudan Shroti In fact Parents are under PEER PRESSURE & not the children. Further I dont see any necessity of subjects like Social Studies,Third Language, etc, etc.Till 5th standard only Maths & 2 Languages English+any other are good enough.Other side of the coin is every parent want to see a super kid in the child ..Excellent in Studies,Sports,Drama,Stageperformance,Vocal,Painting,Swimming, cooking & what not. Teaching Moral values & ethics is sufficient.... to educate is more important to literate...To hell with this current system where a child is not getting even 1 hour of playing....rubbish CCE system..

  • Gopal Shroti THnx Neeru, evvery child has his own capability---You cannot stretch more...what can PARENTS expect from a 10 yr old child to be a MBBS...Lord forbid...they get demotivated from their own kins.

  • Neeru Kumar very true! Gopal Shroti Madhu...what u hv written shd reach the ears of the so-called educationists.....a child with 10kg of bag. A recent example: a KG II child comes from school nearly 2 PM. 3 PM tution time for three hours and after 6.30 the mother sits for further 2 to 3 hours....The educationists shd feel ashamed....they have exploited the natural inheritance of childhood, the innocence, the curiosity, the appreciation, the love, the sympathy, the laughter----they are missing all from a chilld's small life....The ABCD is dumped into his head...Yea 'to hell with the current system where a child is being made a GOAT to be.......? My goodness....the subjects u have written, what parents expect from their children to be alrounders. Just a phobia, the parents are unable to come out and the sufferer is the small innocent child....Less subjects, the better the education....Cud anybody listen?.....The child puts on his shoulder is not books but garbage of modern system.....And to shoulder this garbage, a 2 year old child is brought to school forcing him in the so-called PRE-NURSERY class by his parents.....bla,bla.....I put down my head on the table to share the child's worries, the parents are unaware of.

The childhood once gone will never return.
